About Velvet22
Velvet22 was founded in 2024 by a small independent team in Amsterdam. Our team includes current and former providers, so the problems we set out to fix aren't theoretical to us. We've lived them.
Across the platforms that came before, the same issues kept repeating: fake profiles, scammers, dead listings, weak moderation, poor search, and almost no regard for privacy. Both providers and clients were left to deal with it alone.
We built Velvet22 to change that, on four principles: authenticity, privacy, safety, and quality.
Built With Providers In Mind
Providers are at the center of everything we do. We know how much visibility, fair treatment, and security matter, and how damaging it is to compete against fake profiles and bad actors who erode trust in the community.
That's why verification and moderation aren't afterthoughts. Every profile is reviewed against our standards before it goes live, and accounts that don't hold up are removed. The goal isn't another directory. It's an environment where legitimate providers can actually thrive.
A Better Experience For Clients
Finding a genuine provider shouldn't mean wading through scams and outdated listings. We invest heavily in platform quality and search so clients can discover real profiles and make informed decisions with confidence. Trust has to work for both sides, and everything we build reflects that.
Privacy Comes First
We treat privacy as a fundamental right, not a feature we bolted on later. Providers and clients trust us with sensitive information, and we handle it accordingly: minimal data, strict confidentiality, and high standards throughout the platform. Privacy was one of the reasons Velvet22 exists in the first place.
European Infrastructure
Velvet22 is headquartered in Amsterdam, with infrastructure hosted entirely within Europe. Our servers are located in the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. Keeping everything inside Europe gives us tighter control over security, privacy, and data protection.
A note on our help center: it's powered by Chatwoot, an open-source support tool that we self-host on our own European infrastructure. So while the software isn't ours, the hosting and your data stay entirely within our environment, never handed off to a third party. The Velvet22 platform itself, including profiles, verification, search, and moderation, is built and operated entirely in-house.
Built From The Ground Up
Unlike most platforms in this industry, Velvet22 wasn't assembled from a generic CMS or an off-the-shelf directory script. Every core component was designed specifically for our community. Building from scratch costs far more time and money than buying a template, but it's the only way to build the platform exactly as it should work, rather than as someone else decided.
Looking Ahead
Velvet22 is a long-term project. We keep improving based on what our community tells us: better search, stronger verification, sharper privacy protections.
